JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist for our client based in Cape Town. The appointment will be in terms of the companies Employment Equity Plan. The salary will be market related and dependent on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Compilation of reports (basic assessments, scoping reports, environmental impact assessments, audit reports, etc.)
Assistance with day-to day administration of projects, including public participation associated with projects.
Planning and completing environmental audits.
Undertaking on-site environmental monitoring, training, and guidance to contractors.
Review of contractors Quality Control Plans and Construction Method Statements.
Compiling proposal and project reports.
General office and project related admin, where required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Relevant degree (BSc or B-Tech) in Environmental Science or Environmental Management or related field. Postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.
Suitability for Registration with EAPASA as a Candidate Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP). Registration with EAPASA as a Candidate EAP will be advantageous.
Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft Office Projects (advantageous).
At least 5 years’ post qualification experience in the environmental impact assessment and monitoring field.
Must be an effective communicator (personal, phone, writing, email, etc.).

Own Vehicle
Valid Driver’s License
Willingness to travel (where required)
