JOB DESCRIPTION:

We have a position available for a Junior Financial Manager in the Bryanston area to ensure that transactional finance activities are successful and in line with efficiency and quality goals and ensures compliance with all required financial standards, regulations and acts, including Group Accounting policies, in all territories in which the entity operates.

 

Requirements

  • BCom Accounting or Management Accounting degree
  • Completed articles (SAIPA / SAICA / CIMA)
  • ± 3 years’ post article experience 
  • 3 years’ Management experience
  • Member of an accounting body (SAIPA/SAICA/CIMA)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a full financial function with management experience
  • Experience in both an operational and strategic financial management role
  • Advanced MS. Excel Skills
  • Excellent understanding of the Companies Act, IFRS and other relevant regulations and acts

Responsibilities (Not limited to):

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

  • Month end processes and reconciliations:
  • Management of the accounting system.
  • Continuously ensure that all financial records, including expenditure, assets, liabilities, and cash flows are accurate, up to date and processed efficiently, effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Billing:
  • Managing accounts payable:
  • Review and responsibility for the fixed asset register and depreciation, ensuring this is appropriately maintained in line with the business’s requirements.
  • Payroll management:
  • Compilation and review of Annual Financial Statements
  • Annual Audit (Internal & External)
  • Design and implement processes, as required, to enhance internal control procedures
  • Implementation and updating of financial and payroll policies and process documentations.
  • Setting up reporting structures, considering corporate governance and financial hygiene.
  • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain relationships with banks – opening of new accounts, facility reviews/renewals, funding applications, fulfilling statutory and administrative requirements.

OPERATIONAL FINANCE

  • Operational involvement with the business in identifying areas that the finance department can add value and improve processes
  • Inventory management:
  • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly working capital management.
  • Cash flow forecast and management.
  • Overseeing collection of debtors’ payments and ensuring credit terms are adhered to, ensuring invoices sent timeously.
  • Assess funding requirements and ensure proper measures are in place to meet working capital needs and future funding needs for growth.
  • Promote awareness of cost and control throughout the business
  • Role specific projects, such as ERP enhancements and new product deployment

COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure all statutory requirements are fulfilled.
  • Assists with various compliance matters, where necessary.
  • Continuously monitoring existing and reviewing new reporting principles to ensure they align with IFRS
  • Ensures adherence to group policies.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of payments to third parties (e.g. Medical aid, SARS etc)

TAXATION

  • VAT reconciliations and SARS e-filing submissions.
  • Tax and regulatory compliance calculations and submissions.

IMPROVED EFFICIENCIES

  • Continuously look to improve and enhance financial and relevant business processes for optimal efficiency and productivity.
  • Driver of cost efficiencies within the finance team and across the business

MANAGING PEOPLE

  • Allocate work to finance team and ensure proper segregation of duties.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the team. Team management and meetings/coordination
  • Mentor and support team members
  • Monitor performance and facilitate monthly performance reviews against set targets and standards.
  • Encourage skills development and knowledge sharing within the finance department
  • Assist with the onboarding and training of new Finance Employees, when required
  • Assist with the recruitment process, when required i.e. be actively involved during interviews and selection.
  • Motivating and fostering a fantastic team culture
  • Monitor the functioning of the department and continuously provide feedback, coaching and training.
