The Shipping department currently has a vacancy for an attentive to detail, dedicated, organized individual to join their team. This position requires a dynamic, flexible personality, who is able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
Duties & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Creating shipping instructions
- Communicating with our partners about their shipment status
- Assist in checking freight documentation (Bills of Lading, Certificate of Origins, etc.)
- Prepare Certificate of origin
- Processing administrative tasks, so all our departments are up-to-date of your latest shipments
- Assisting with getting shipping files in order to be shipped
- Booking of hauliers for the containers
- Booking and following up with shipping lines & depots for container releases
- Book containers with the nominated shipping lines
- Interacting with shipping lines regarding any booking queries
- Track shipment progress from start to end
- Identify potential issues and inform relevant parties promptly
- Liaise with clearing agents and generate relevant documentation
- Adhoc - Check all clearing agent’s invoices
- Ensuring all required and necessary paperwork are timelessly received and processed onto the system
- Ensuring all shipping relevant supporting documents are in order
- Scanning orders into computer and tracking shipments across multiple channels
- Forecasting to secure shipping opportunities
- Research & communicate shipping opportunities
- Assist finance with invoice verification if and when required
- Investigating and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment/s
- Obtaining, checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements
- Utilising e-commerce, internet technology and satellite systems to enable real-time tracking of goods
- Executing the shipment from order indent to vessel departure including tracking updates
- Prepare and maintain excel spreadsheets
- Follow up with relevant role players, Scanning & Filing
- Maintaining communication through all phases of the shipping process
- Any and all duties and responsibilities based on operational needs
Qualifying Experience:
- Matric
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Computer literate (MS Office)

08h00–17h00: Monday – Thursday
08h00–16h00: Friday
Will be required to work overtime as per operational requirements and on standby every alternate weekend to coordinate shipments (cartage, placements, stacking and make bookings)
