Full job description:
Our client, based in Cape Town, is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Appliance Repair Service Technician to join their team. In this position, you will respond to calls from customers that require service or to answer questions about the functioning of new appliances. An Appliance Repair Service Technician’s responsibilities include having a deep understanding of all Household and Personal Care appliances. In addition, they should be familiar with diagnostic techniques for pinpointing what could be causing an issue and have excellent problem-solving skills to fix all issues promptly. They will ultimately work directly with customers to diagnose and fix issues with appliances.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Examining customers' personal and home care appliances and identifying the cause of appliance breakdowns
• Performing repair and maintenance work on customers' appliances
• Providing rough estimates to customers on timelines for repairing appliances damaged or malfunctioning appliances
• Client triage to effectively gauge possible problems and identify solutions/fixes to these problems
• Visit clients’ homes and fix their appliances when required
• Disassemble, diagnose and replace faulty parts, and reassemble appliances
• Explain to clients how to use appliances properly
• Manage spare part utilization ordering and reporting
Desired Experience & Qualification
• Matric as a minimum
• Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, a bonus
• Proven work experience as an Appliance Repair Service Technician or similar role
• Proven experience repairing, installing and maintaining home and personal care appliances
• The ability to use various hand tools
• The ability to stand for extended periods
• The ability to lift heavy objects
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills
