Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Toolmaker with experience in plastics injection molding molds to join our team. This role is not limited to toolmaking; the successful candidate will also assist with machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support as required. The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing, repairing, insert change and maintaining of injection molding tools.
- Conducting modifications and adjustments to molds as required.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting tooling and machine-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Performing preventive maintenance on molds and assisting with machine maintenance.
- Operating various toolroom equipment, such as lathes, grinders, and drilling machines (additional skills would be an advantage for an expanding toolroom).
- Assisting in machine setup and adjustments to optimize production efficiency.
- Working with the production team to resolve process-related challenges.
- Performing basic fitter work and mechanical repairs on machines when required.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Able to join maintenance team, specific focus on moulds
- Mould sizes that range from 400T to 1800T machines
- Keep accurate reports on moulds.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or N3
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience with plastics injection molding tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and precision machining.
- Knowledge of injection molding machines, hydraulics, and pneumatics is an advantage.
- Willingness to work hard, learn, and adapt across different technical areas.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with Lathe and Milling machining would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of hot runner systems, mold cooling, and ejection systems.
- A hands-on, practical approach to technical challenges.
