SUMMARY:
Laboratory Technician (water treatment)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As Lab Tech will monitor the performance of the plant; do the required water analysis, compile and issue relevant reports; strive to minimize the consumption of chemicals and electricity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in biology, chemistry and chemical engineering.
  • 2-3 years'' experience in water treatment as a lab technician.
  • Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices.
  • Excellent physical condition and endurance.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and following the instructions and specifications of engineers, scientists, and managers.
  • Selecting and setting up the required lab equipment for tests, experiments, and analyses.
  • Conducting lab tests for qualitative and quantitative analyses of various substances and materials.
  • Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
  • Assisting with the preparation of chemical solutions.
  • Keeping the laboratory neat and clean and sterilizing all work surfaces and equipment.
  • Regularly inspecting materials and equipment and ordering more as required.
  • Training and monitoring other workers involved in chemical processing.
  • Working alongside other engineers, chemists, and scientists to develop improved production/operations processes and methods.
  • Interpreting test results and compiling technical reports.
  • Keeping up to date with field advancements and sharing new knowledge with colleagues.
  • Receive, label, and analyse samples.
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods as and when required.
  • Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
  • Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are always followed strictly and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
