Landfill Supervisor - Delmas Mpumalanga

• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in landfill operations,
• Establish productivity goals where needed; ensure adherence to operating standards; and manage labour hours and disposal expenses per established and agreed plans,
• Planning access roads, cell sizes, cell slopes, drainage, wet cell, waste depositing
• Give daily duties to subordinates
• Ensure landfill operations advance according to the operational plan
• Maintain aesthetics-, technical-, environmental – and Minimum Requirements standards
• Managing correct fuel and oil stock levels
• Display the following organograms:
• Health & Safety
• Labour Act
• Health & Safety Act
• Duty Roster
• Operational Plan
• Closure plan and existing updated operational plan
• Plan with boreholes
• Valid weighbridge verification certificate framed (display in weighbridge)
• Emergency and fire evacuation plan (EFD-24)
• Display annual roster with activities such as site meetings, council meetings, internal audits, external audits, water monitoring, gas monitoring and development meetings.
• Execute other operational plans to help achieve or exceed the division’s budgeted goals,
• Able to follow and direct established landfill operations procedures pertaining to erosion control measures within the boundary of waste and borrow areas,
• Determine and direct solid waste and daily cover placement efficiently,
• Maintain open and effective communications with Managers and other Site Supervisors to ensure coordinated operations,
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations on the landfill for employees and users.
• Reports defective or damaged equipment to the appropriate authority for the arrangement of repairs,
• Maintain necessary regulatory compliance records in all forms,
• Complete proper and correct time sheets and control proper time keeping

• Complaints / compliment register (EFD-23)
• ISO files (EFD-36)
• Organogram (EFD-142)
• H & S organogram (EFD-143)
• First Aid Checklist (EFD-79)
• H & S inspection report (EFD-32)

• Protective clothing issue register (EFD-80)
• Minutes of staff meetings / health and safety / proof of fire drill records
• Fire extinguisher service register (EFD-98)
• Visitor register (EFD-51)
• Daily plant check sheets (EFD-73)
• Inventory list (EFD-134)
• Keep monthly, daily electronic records of all plant hours, fuel consumption, oil utilisation, daily fuel records, daily waste volumes (tonnages), cover material utilisation, weather report.  Records (wind directions, rainfall, temperatures) and all other specific site reports (recycling, water levels, pumping etc)
• Prepare and submit weekly reports and plant hours to Management
• Prepare and submit monthly reports to Management not later than three working days after month end
• Plan and organize efficient utilization of plant compliment on site
• Report all breakdowns and preventative maintenance to plant manager, telephonically or on the maintenance request (EFD-88)
• Liaise with plant manager on duration of downtime before report to client on action plant
• Plan and liaise with plant division on services
• Ensure operators inspect equipment for proper operating condition and loose or worn parts and that they observe equipment instruments while equipment is in use and report any issues in accordance with established policies,
• Assist landfill users by giving directions and providing information,
• Ability to monitor the leachate control system , logic controllers, lift-stations and pumps,
• Ensure grounds maintenance is performed as needed on the landfill (litter pick-up, grass cutting, and seeding),
• Supervise and complete minor facility maintenance as needed,
• Oversees regular inspections of equipment, facilities and all landfill operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing the disposal of solid waste,
• Engage assigned employees in active participation to instill a culture of safety by demonstration of a personal commitment to safe operations and active personal outreach to operational employees.

Requirements:

• ± 3 Years experience in a similar role
• Previous Waste Management Knoweldge
• Valid Code 8 Drivers Licence
• Grade 12
• Legal LiabilityTraining
