SUMMARY:
Our client in the Telecommunications sector requires a Level 2 Backup Resource.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Below are the skills needed:

When patches are released accountabilities would be will deploy the patches and do the installations thereof.
Support CFS cluster implementation during build.
Manage Storage that’s assigned to hosts using the Veritas products, 1st line fault finding, 2nd line Veritas
Login to ensure backups completed successfully, if needed attend to, and resolve problems. This might require change control to be logged from within client, depending on the problem.
Assist with ad-hoc reporting as and when required.
Generate ad-hoc custom reports that detail backup status and success rates.
Perform test procedures after configurations to prove the technology works as intended.
Log support calls with Veritas and maintain constant communication with the Veritas engineer to have problems resolved quickly and effectively.
Manage and monitor NetBackup backup appliances daily across all datacentres, to ensure they are running optimally. Coordinate with Veritas to have hardware replacements i.e., disk failures etc. fulfilled when necessary.
Assist with configuration of backup environment, including configuration of tape drives, storage allocation and networking issues that may arise.
Ensure that knowledge is up to date on the latest product updates and releases and communicate this information to the customers.
