MARINE TECHNICAL UNDERWRITER

SUMMARY:
An insurance company based in Rivonia/Sandton is currently seeking a Marine Technical Underwriter to assist in the running of its technical back office function.

POSITION INFO:
The candidate must be experienced in the processing and production of all insurance documentation and well adversed in all Marine classes including Cargo, Goods In Transit, Stock Throughput, Hull & Machinery, Leisurecraft, Marine Liabilities and Facultative Placements.
 
The role includes underwriting risks and performing tasks with limited supervision on moderate to complex technical placements in a fast paced environment. 
Ability to follow through with underwriting policies and procedures, rating rules and adherence to insurance laws and regulations.
 
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
At least 3-5 years Marine Experience
Ability to work independently
Time Management
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, takes initiative and pays attention to detail
Ability to exercise independent judgement and make sound underwriting decisions
Existing Market Relationships and a great communicator who can work with people at all levels
Sales experience, following up on leads and well adversed in the New Business process
