Maintenance Buyer

SUMMARY:
Our client, a national manufacturing concern, seeks your procurement experience to respond to requests from the Maintenance Foreman/Maintenance Manager to purchase and obtain the necessary tools, equipment and maintenance material in sufficient quantities and in time for the Maintenance department to function.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Job Functions:

• Matric is essential.
• Minimum 3 years’ working experience in a similar Buying role.
• Knowledge of the Automotive Industry, a strong advantage.
• Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Attend to daily order requirement from Maintenance Foreman.
• Purchase maintenance spares / consumables, stock items, machinery, tools, etc.
• Load of POs for all departments.
• Ensure orders are delivered on time.
• Check receipts from suppliers against order.
• Match delivery note from supplier against invoice.
• Receive invoices and submit to Finance.

• Ensure material handling equipment in workshop is maintained.
• Arrange load testing yearly and maintenance on all forklifts in plant when needed & repairs and maintenance on all forklifts.
• Arrange inspections of all lifting equipment, and all repairs & maintenance on lifting equipment.
• Keep lifting equipment, forklift files up to date and for audit purposes.
• Ensure unplanned (breakdowns) downtime is captured and breakdown sheets updated.
• Update Maintenance KPI’s monthly for MMR preparation.

• Monthly stock takes of all finished maintenance spares.
• Book out stock and process maintenance sheet and submit to Finance.
• Reconcile stock count with computer stock balances.
• Control stock in stores.
• Ensure that FIFO principles are adhered to.
• Ensure that material and spares are stacked safely and according to safety regulation.

• Record time and attendance.
• Check and submit timesheets for contractors.
• Check exceptions and approve hours for wages maintenance employees.
• Submit hours to Wage department.
• Check, process & submit maintenance staff salary staff overtime & petrol claims to Payroll.

• Ensure housekeeping and safety rules are adhered to.
• Assist with purchasing and issuing of plant PPE.
• Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues.
• Address workplace hazards and risks.

• Maintain Maintenance expenditure sheet with daily spend for all departments updated daily or when purchase orders are raised.
• Monthly Maintenance accruals for all departments on spend sheet.
• Month end reports done on Maintenance expenditure and submit to Finance department.
• Open new vendor suppliers.

• Ensure system of Maintenance Connection KPI’s are administrated and updated according to plant requirements, including PM Planning and scheduling - Artisan utilisation, Equipment Availability, PM Adherence, etc.
