Maintenance / Facilities Technician (Factory Handyman)

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

• Must have good mechanical knowledge, and a fault-finding nature
• Must have good electrical understanding, can read drawings and fault find on electrical drawings.
• Must be flexible in terms of working hours, machines do not break when we want them too.
• Will have to (often) work after hours to not disrupt production.
• Will be required to largely manage his own time.
• Will need to liaise with suppliers and order the necessary spares as needed.
• Must be able to work at heights.
• Ability to weld and work with cutting torch
• Open space around the building housekeeping maintenance.
• Some knowledge about computer network systems wiring.
• Maintain / Move / Mount CCTV camera systems
• Must have worked on general repair of plant and machinery. This could include tasks as simple as painting an area, to as complicated as being responsible for installing new equipment both mechanically and electrically
• This is not a supervisory position, but he will be expected to manage an assistant when one is needed.
• Will be expected to do preventative maintenance on all plant machinery (each piece of equipment once each year).
• Must have worked in similar role before and have at least 3 years’ experience in this area.
• Responsible for own area and overseeing of general housekeeping, including the firefighting equipment.
• Moving of equipment based on operational requirements.
• Although the incumbent will be expected to complete all the necessary documentation required for ISO etc., it must be clear that this is a hands-on position, and not a desk job.
• Some tasks will require that the incumbent to be prepared to do manual labour tasks that would normally be done by a labourer, mixing small batches of concrete for example, when there is not labour available.
• The individual will be reporting to and taking direction from the Foundry Manager.
• Experience with fault finding on CNC machines

Preferred:

• Exposure to a foundry environment
• PLC programming knowledge
• Any experience with general above ground plumbing and pipe work (water and air reticulation)
• It would be beneficial if the incumbent has or has had (even if expired) a crane and hyster operation license.
