Maintenance Fitter– PE, Eastern Cape – R25 000 to R27 000 CTC



A position is available for a Maintenance Fitter at a Port Elizabeth Factory to provide mechanical support to factory operations, ensuring minimal equipment downtime.



Education and experience:

• Matric / Grade 12 (minimum)

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

• Qualified Artisan (N5), Trade Test

• 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

• Knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment

• Strong understanding of quality requirements in a manufacturing environment

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team

• Willingness to work shifts when required

• Self-starter with the ability to work without supervision

• Assertive, resilient, and customer-focused

• Flexible and disciplined



Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily planned and preventative maintenance routines

• Conduct routine inspections and diagnose potential equipment failures

• Coordinate with supervisors/production to schedule maintenance

• Ensure parts availability for maintenance tasks

• Identify root causes of equipment failures and plan corrective actions

• Perform repairs swiftly to restore equipment to optimal condition

• Report and record downtime and actions taken

• Verify proper equipment operation post-repair and obtain approval from manufacturing

• Be available to assist with production requests at all times

• Help resolve process-related production issues

• Assist with operator training as needed

• Communicate production run changes and potential problems with production

• Provide written reports on maintenance activities to supervisors

• Conduct "first off" inspections on process changes

• Inspect products to ensure quality standards are met

• Evaluate equipment performance through statistical process charts and correct issues

• Report on out-of-control conditions and ensure daily housekeeping
