JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client based in East London is currently looking to employ a Maintenance Technician.

 

Requirements:

  • Millwright trade certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working as a Millwright.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industry will be an advantage.
  • Computer Skills (MS Office Package).
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include night shift, overtime, standby, and weekends to support a plant that manufactures 24/7.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow machine manuals, mechanical drawings, SOP’s.
  • Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, and assorted power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics: Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to perform the physical demands of the job (be on your feet for extended periods of time and tolerate the noise level of the production environment).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions.
  • Good communication skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Ensure that planned Preventative Maintenance is carried out daily.
  • Conduct regular inspections on equipment to identify hazards, defects or need for repair.
  • Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross-functional team members.
  • Fix or repair the machinery as assigned according to demands.
  • Maintains daily records to support the Preventive Maintenance work.
  • Identifies parts- supplies- and services necessary to support assigned work areas.
  • Attends departmental meetings to stay informed.
  • Conduct fault finding and testing on equipment.
  • Work directly with plant leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of reoccurring problems.
  • Teach basic mechanical skills to line operators to support autonomous maintenance.
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Acts policies and procedures.
