CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The main purpose of this position is to ensure effective implementation of Employment Equity and the promotion of Mandela University’s Transformation Agenda by advancing equity, diversity and non-discriminatory practices in accordance with organisational policies and strategies, relevant legislation and appropriate ethics.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • To evaluate and monitor of Mandela University’s equity strategies, policies and procedures.
  • To identify and remove systems and processes which create barriers to employment equity implementation.
  • To analyse data and provide accurate management reports reflecting Nelson Mandela’s employment equity profile, trends and benchmarking.
  • To provide appropriate support and guidance to all line managers regarding the achievement of equity targets. To assist in the promotion of diversity management.
  • To assist in the communication of Employment Equity initiatives to staff.
  • To generate equity profiles and statistics for each Faculty/Directorate/Division
  • To prepare and complete the Nelson Mandela University Employment Equity plan and ensure compliance with all requirements of the Department of Employment and Labour.
  • To assist in the implementation of appropriate Capacity development programmes to enhance the success in achieving a diversified workforce

REQUIREMENTS

 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources at NQF Level 07 (Or Equivalent)

5 years relevant experience, with at least 3 years of these at a tactical or operational management level. Demonstrated impact within an employment equity, diversity or transformation portfolio.  Experience in the higher education sector will be an added experience. 

 

SCREENING QUESTIONS

 
  1. Do you have a Degree or equivalent (NQF 7)?
  2. Do you have 3 years’ experience in an Employment Equity , Diversity , Inclusion and overall organisational portfolio?
  3. Do you have working knowledge and Understanding of South African employment related legislation?
  4. Knowledge of analysing statistics and developing projections?
  5. Do you have an intermediated practical knowledge of Microsoft excell
