Our client in the Petrochemical industry is seeking to employ a Mechanical Fitter Supervisor to join their team. Please note that this is a (fixed term contract).

Duties & Responsibilities
Supervisory and Leadership
Team Leadership: Lead a team of mechanical fitters, ensuring work is carried out efficiently and safely.
Work Allocation: Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and project requirements.
Training and Mentorship: Provide on-the-job training, guidance and support to less experienced team members.
 
Operational Oversight
Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers and other supervisors to ensure smooth execution of mechanical fitting tasks.
Equipment Maintenance: Supervise the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves and piping systems.
Inspection and Testing: Ensure all equipment is inspected and tested to meet operational and safety standards.
 
Safety and Compliance
Safety Enforcement: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in all activities.
Compliance Monitoring: Verify that all work complies with industry standards, petrochemical regulations and company policies.
Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments for mechanical tasks and implement control measures to mitigate potential hazards.
 
Technical Expertise
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimise downtime.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
Tool Management: Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
 
 
Documentation and Reporting
Progress Reporting: Provide daily/weekly updates on task completion and project status to management.
Maintenance Records: Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations and maintenance activities.
Incident Reporting: Report any safety incidents, equipment failures or operational delays promptly.
 
Continuous Improvement
Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Material Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement for timely availability of required materials and spare parts.
 
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the key point of contact between the mechanical fitting team, other departments and external contractors.
Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve team conflicts or disputes to maintain a positive work environment.
Feedback Mechanism: Collect and provide constructive feedback to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
 
Experience & Qualification

• 3 to 5 years’ experience.
• Trade certificate
• Redseal
