CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
Provide comprehensive, relevant and effective primary and occupational health programs to all employees of the
University, in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSACT), Compensation for Occupational
Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA), Health Professions Act, Medicine Control Regulation and any other relevant
legislation that needs to be adhered to.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
ï‚· Assist with annual medical surveillance programmes for the institution, Including Hearing
Conservation programmes
ï‚· Assist with Treatments of medical emergencies and injuries on duty according to national policies,
protocols, procedures and legislation.
ï‚· Assisting with medical waste management compliance for the Occupational health centre
ï‚· Assist with vital signs of employees on medical surveillance eg Testing the Blood pressure, blood
glucose level, Body Mass Index (weight/height ratio), cholesterol, vision testing and urine testing
ï‚· Administrative duties wrt preparation of documents for consultation

REQUIREMENTS
ï‚· Matric /Grade 12
ï‚· Certificate in Audiometry
ï‚· Minimum 2 years’ experience in Occupational Health,
ï‚· Valid and unendorsed Drivers’ License
Advantage :
ï‚· Spirometry certificate
ï‚· Basic Life Support
Professional Membership with:
ï‚· Audiometry Register - South African Society Occupational Health Nurses (SASOHN) and/or
ï‚· Health Proffesions Council of SA (HPSA)
