Main Purpose of the Role: To maintain/monitor stocks of critical & non-critical spare parts. Be responsible for all contractor management onsite including service requests and call outs. Be actively involved with implementation of new plant & equipment including projects. Qualifications and Requirements:
- Millwright Certificate/Fitter Turner and or similar
- More than 5+ years’ experience as a Millwright in the chemical and/or paint industry is preferred
- Forklift license
- Disconnect/Reconnect License “D” license
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance schedule as laid out in company program including routine lubrication, filter changes, grease and equipment cleaning, checking and filling tank and gear box levels
- Replace worn and damaged parts on equipment
- Operating adjustments (e.g. air pressures, fill sensors, proximity sensors, machine
- parameters)
- On call and standby for major and minor equipment failures (e.g. filling line down or
- conveyor problems)
- Major mill overhauls (motors, discs, shafts and screens), new equipment installations,
- modifications and relocations
- Research and identify required replacement parts off parts list and drawings as well as order
- parts and follow up back orders where necessary
- Schedule mill maintenance (every 3-6 months), change seals, buffer fluids, media and check for worn parts
- Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly equipment inspections, checking mechanical, electrical
- operations
- Checking and noting all plant, lab and building equipment for worn or damaged parts
- Fabrication and installation of various equipment and safety guards (weld stands and
- guards), regular upkeep
- Daily maintenance log and monthly reports to Production and Maintenance Manager
- Call outside contractors for any unscheduled maintenance
- General housekeeping and ensure OHS Act compliance
- Training of department maintenance team and process controllers
- Create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the department
- Shutdown action plan and execution
- Safety custodian for the area of responsibility and ensure compliance
- Maintain standards in the plant and adhere to all safety rules and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings
- Competent with Isolation and Lock-out procedures
- Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non-Conformances and corrects deviations
