JOB DESCRIPTION:

Urgently require the skills of an experienced New Business Consultant/ Underwriter. Must have a FETC in Short Term Insurance (150 Credits) with Min of 2 yrs experience in Personal Lines - Short Term Insurance Sales. Higher Certificate in Short Term Insurance will be an advantage.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in short-term insurance sales (Personal Lines).
  • FETC (Further Education & Training Certificate) in Short Term Insurance – NQF 4 (150 credits) – essential.
  • Higher Certificate in Short Term Insurance – NQF 5 or higher – highly advantageous
  • Successfully passed RE 1 (Representative Exam).
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exposure to, or work experience on the TIAL Operating System (System A) – highly advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant short-term insurance policy wording (Personal Lines).
  • Sound proficiency in both English and Afrikaans languages (verbal and written).

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
  • Personal Lines quoting.
  • Communicating and negotiating rates and premiums with brokers.
  • Write profitable business and maintain satisfactory loss ratios.
  • Evaluating and validating clients.
  • Maintaining efficient turn-around times.
  • Ensure adherence to prescribed underwriting criteria.
  • Compilation of closings.
  • Development of value-adding relationships with brokers and internal staff.
  • Attaining individual and departmental sales targets.
  • Liaising with the Portfolio Managers in following up on quotes and new business.
  • Setting own targets with brokers.
  • Liaising with the Technical department on technical issues.
  • We are currently looking to hire an experienced Personal Lines Consultant that can join our Dynamic New Business Sales team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Underwriting Personal Lines business, understands the value of applying sound Risk Management practices to achieve and maintain profitable loss ratios, and has a natural flair for people and relationship building.
  • The main purpose of the Personal Lines New Business Consultant is to promote new business sales of all personal lines products by developing supportive relationships with their allocated Broker portfolio, and by responding timeously to all possible new business leads by preparing and submitting comparative quotes that succeed in addressing the client’s insurance needs, at a reasonable and competitive price.
  • Accuracy of quotes and fast turn-around times on quote requests are crucial to achieve good closing ratios. In line with the Company’s Underwriting guidelines, Consultants are required to apply their skills, knowledge, and discretion in negotiating rates. We require thinkers!   • Consultants are furthermore required to apply their product knowledge to up-sell cover – it’s about providing a comprehensive solution.
