SUMMARY:
New Product Developer (NPD) - Killarney Gardens - Cape Town

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main purpose of the job:

Coordinate all NPD trials, recipes, research, formulations, ingredients and communication thereof to the organisation on all assigned projects.

Preferred Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Food Science or BTech Food Technology Diploma
At least 3-5 years’ experience within a food and beverage operational environment (preferably with focus on New Product Development or Food Technology research)
Must be a self-starter, and be able to take ownership of assigned projects within the small New Product Development team.
Problem solving and basic project management knowledge
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills – ability to interact confidently with both suppliers and customers.
Work well within a multifunctional team environment
Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise in our customer’s processes to enable end to end customer support.

Other Requirements

Contribute innovative new product ideas based on customer needs (interpretation of customer briefs) and market trends
Support the New Product Development team in the thorough and timeous completion of projects (from sample phase, factory trials, through to evaluation at customers where required)
Lead selected projects as assigned.
Product and process improvement support for customers
Product and process improvement and technical problem-solving support for manufacturing operations.
Identify and develop relationships with key ingredient suppliers
Produce costings for new product variants submitted
Assist with completion of New Product Development administration (Specifications, loading of recipes into ERP system, etc.)
Contribute to improving new product development processes and systems
