Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications and experience

Occupational Therapist with (Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy)
Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience post qualification in Mining
Good understanding of Functional Capacity Evaluation in Job Fit System
Understanding of relevant Labor Law legislation as well as the MHSA
Registration with the Interim Medical and Dental Council of South Africa and the Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa must have BOTH Essential

As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for the following:

Having a clear understanding of safety risk management practices and requirements and ensures that the risk profile in his/her area(s) of responsibility when individual therapeutic treatment plans are recommended
Assessing, planning and implementing treatment plans and interventions aimed at facilitating the integration of the employee with their workspace
Implementing the OREP process with the use of standard templates, designation for all occupations on the mine as well as outlining the implementation process and ensuring the implementation of a Functionality Ability Assessment programme in conjunction with the OREP
Working out complete rehabilitation programmes and intervention activities for employees identified High Risk in line with minimum criteria for the Underground work environment as well as Injuries on Duty
