Job Description

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you will be required to:

• Work in the mining environment, specifically underground.
• Be a strong team player with excellent communication (verbal and non-verbal) skills.
• Be able to handle important project related logistics such as equipment delivery and positioning, with all associated quality assurance requirements.
• Have strong data analysis skills (must be proficient with MS Excel).
• Have strong drawing capability with an interest in hardware and the physical building of equipment.
• Understand and work with pumps, the accompanying pipework and valves.
• Supervise site works according to the Mines Health & Safety Act to ensure (and enforce) safe working conditions at all times.

Additional Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in underground mining Ventilation and Occupational Hygienist
• Extensive Knowledge of Occupational Health and Hygiene legislation
• Valid Medical Certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain one Valid driver’s license and inoculated against Covid-19
• High aptitude for learning new skills and competencies

Own vehicle with proof of road worthiness and own asset insurance (Travel reimbursement according to AA rates with appropriate business use fraction)

Qualifications

• Intermediate or advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• An Occupational Hygiene or other relevant Tertiary qualification

Skills

• 5 solid years dealing with deep mine ventilation / cooling systems
• Solid experience being on Mining sites
• Strong drawing capability with and interest in hardware and the physical building of equipment
