Our client in Franschhoek is looking to employ a Pastry chef.
Main Responsibility
Develop and produce a selection of creative, innovative and authentic sweets, cakes, deserts, ice creams,
chocolates and pastry items that meet and exceed the expectations of guests.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist the Head Chef in checking the staff timing, grooming, and personnel cleanliness.
• Monitors the day-to-day performance of the pastry and bakery operations.
• Works with the bakery and pastry team so that these develop and display the level of competence,
professionalism, and excellence.
• Stays up to date with developing practices in pastry production.
• Controls cost by minimizing spoilage, waste and exercising portion control.
Experience and skills:
• Minimum of 2- 3 years experience in a similar position
• Be able to follow recipes and presentation of food and dishes as instructed
• Proven experience in menu design and creating new items
• Experience and/or knowledge of seasonal ingredients
• Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen is up to HACCP standards
• Ensure the highest quality of food and fresh produce
• Good organisational and time management skills
Inherent Requirements:
• Matric Certificate
• Diploma in professional cookery advantageous
• Fully Covid-19 vaccination mandatory
