Patient Services Coordinator

POSITION INFO:
Develop a Patient Support Programme and to provide patients and their families with patient care services and support. This will include:

Conceptualisation of the Patient Support Programme
You will develop and enhance the Patient Support program, collaborate with international teams and stakeholders, manage a database of patient services, provide content for donor recruitment, and design processes for obtaining informed consent.

Relevant Patient and Family Communications
You will provide empathetic counselling and support to patients and their families, coordinate physician contacts and second opinions, address individual needs such as food and transport, manage patient data consent, and offer hospital visits and educational guidance throughout the process.

Interface Function
You will coordinate with internal teams on patient groups, share impactful stories with marketing and press departments, and connect patients and their families with doctors and support groups.

Data Maintenance
You will maintain and update patient data while accurately documenting information in compliance with Data Protection legislation.

Relationship Building
Build relationships and provide training, education, and awareness to healthcare professionals, NPOs, government departments, community health workers, and traditional healers and leaders to support project implementation.

Other
You will manage refurbishment projects, counsel potential family donors, assist with transplant programs, secure resources for donations, represent the organisation at public events, conduct media interviews, and coordinate events and visits for management and global teams.

REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant BSc Degree, in fields such as nursing; genetics, etc.
• 3 plus years work experience, working in a high-pressure environment.
• Experience of working with large database/CRM systems.
• An understanding of donor and patient confidentiality with strict adherence to the POPI Act
• Willingness to travel on occasions for training and workshops, both nationally and internationally
• Good medical knowledge in the field of oncology and/or expertise in patient care.
• Knowledge of, or ability to understand, medical terminology, case-note documentation, medical history documentation.
• Willingness to become acquainted with a very specific discipline/branch of medical science
• Advanced English skills
• Good knowledge of Word, Excel, basic knowledge of PowerPoint
• Basic knowledge of databases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
