SUMMARY:
Worchester-based client is seeking a Registered Class III Process Controller with minimum 3 years’ experience in water treatment/Biogas Plants. Previous experience as a Lab Technician would be beneficial. Must have a valid driver's and Forklift Licence. Willing to work Shifts.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications and Experience:
  • NQF level 4 qualification (Matric) and registration as a Class III Process Controller.
  • Three or more years of experience in water treatment and/or biogas plant operation.
  • Must have previous experience working with aggressive and hazardous chemicals
    (e.g. Ferric, hypochlorite, caustic soda, etc)
  • Computer literacy.
  • Valid Drivers’ Licence (code EB).
  • Experience in anaerobic treatment technologies would be an advantage.
  • A forklift license would be an advantage.
  • Experience as a Lab Technician (sampling & analyses) would be an advantage.
  • Required to work outside normal working hours, shifts, during emergencies and planned overtime.
Duties
Housekeeping: 
  • Maintaining clean buildings and equipment.
  • Inspect and cleaning of collection pumps and strainers.
  • Inspect and cleaning of process instrumentations.
  • Chemical stacking and storage.
Monitor and Reporting:
  • Monitor, maintain, record and upkeep of all plant and equipment registers. (Flowmeter readings, chemical stock levels, pump hours and analytical instrument readings.
  • Maintain and upkeep of logbooks.
  • Record, monitor and interpret SCADA and control trends.
SHE Tasks:
  • Adhere to all SHE procedures in the company and legislation.
  • Assist with incident investigations.
  • Report incidents as per the procedure.
Plant Controlling Tasks:
  •  Adjust plant HMI and SCADA according to SOP and SWP.
  • Manage and adjust flow based on demand.
  • Operate control centre as per procedure (monitor SCADA, tank levels, report on alarms or failure).
Quality Tasks: 
  • Conduct bench scale and lab testing according to procedure and quality standards.
  • Conduct and maintain all quality equipment and registers according to the latest editions of potable water SANS and or license condition and or general authorizations.
  • (e.g jar testing, pH, Conductivity, TTF, TSS, COD, Ammonia, Nitr(i)ates, etc) (e.g daily verification of handheld meters, reagent stock, chemical stock,etc
  • Calculate chemical dosing, consumption rates and plant losses. Compare and evaluate results with plant operating philosophies.
Maintenance Tasks:
  • Report power failures, breakdowns and noise of equipment.
  • Execute household first line Maintenance.
