A VIP family comprising 2 adults and 3 boys of school going age residing in the Higgovale/Vredehoek/Signal Hill area of Cape Town are seeking to employ the services of a Private Chauffeur-Handyman.
Our client is looking for a flexible team player who is cautious and reserved in nature and who can operate at a steady pace to be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of the family.
The successful candidate will take care of the residence’s private transportation needs and any errand requirements, as well as be able to assist with general / basic handyman duties & responsibilities around a very modernly furnished & equipped VIP type household.
It is therefore highly preferable that the relevant candidate has some already existing experience working for a VIP family / in a VIP employer type environment, and specifically within the areas of maintenance/handyman & private / executive chauffeuring work.
The candidate should have a good command of English with Afrikaans being an advantage, excellent & safe driving skills, traceable references, and a stable track record.
This is a live-out position so residing within relatively close proximity of the Lion’s Head / Signal Hill type areas, and having your own transport (to get to and from work) are bonuses but not critical to apply. A valid driver’s licence and PrDP is essential.
The successful candidate must be an extremely trustworthy and highly reliable individual who is well-presented/groomed and of sober habits.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE SEARCHING FOR SOMEBODY THAT ALREADY HAS PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE AS A PRIVATE DRIVER / CHAUFFER (WITH A BIT OF HANDYMAN KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS)
Salary is very negotiable for the right candidate DOE.
(Only deductions are PAYE & UIF. Please factor any additional benefit items such as own medical aid & provident fund costs you are currently paying for into your salary expectation)
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Being comfortable and happy to transport 3 children to their relevant school/s and to any afternoon extra-mural / extra-curricular activities, and ‘potentially’ to some occasional weekend / after-hours type activities / appointments if required.
- Handling of any relevant errands for the household – e.g. potentially taking the house chef to do grocery shopping / collection of any orders or supplies for the household etc.
- Transportation of any other family members and or visiting guests if required.
- To ensure that the company vehicle is driven in accordance with road traffic legislation and regulations.
- To ensure that the company vehicle is always clean and checked daily for any maintenance, road worthy or service issues, and that any concerns are reported, as well as ensuring that petrol, oil and water levels are regularly checked.
- Potential dropping off and collection of any of the household / Employer vehicles for servicing / repairs etc.
- Responsible for and handling of any household handyman related duties – e.g. fixing / repair of basic plumbing and electrical issues, fixing of plugs and or points / wires, replacing of light / chandelier globes, potential pool and garden maintenance / oversee thereof, painting, fixing of appliances, identifying new issues inside and outside of the household and to bring these to the Employer’s attention etc.
