POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Engineer to join our client’s team, focusing on the operation and optimization of the processes within our opencast coal mine and coal DMS magnetite wash plant. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe processing of coal, optimizing operational processes, troubleshooting plant issues, and continuously improving the overall production flow. This role requires strong technical knowledge in coal processing, a proactive approach to process optimization, and the ability to work in a high-performance, team-oriented environment.
Description
- Coal Wash Plant Operations:
- Oversee and optimize the operation of the coal wash plant to ensure efficient separation and cleaning of coal.
- Monitor and analyze performance of the wash plant, ensuring that equipment runs optimally and achieves desired product specifications.
- Troubleshoot process-related issues and provide timely solutions to ensure minimum downtime.
- Process Optimization:
- Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency, throughput, and quality of coal output.
- Utilize process modeling and simulations to predict performance and optimize operating parameters.
- Develop strategies for reducing operational costs and improving the efficiency of processing units.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to the operations team for process-related issues.
- Analyze plant performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis for operational problems and provide effective corrective actions.
- Process Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor key process indicators (KPIs) for plant performance, including recovery rates, product yield, and material quality.
- Develop and maintain accurate reports and performance dashboards for management review.
- Provide recommendations to senior leadership based on data-driven insights to improve operational performance.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring safe operational practices within the plant.
- Promote a safety culture within the process engineering team and throughout the operation.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with mine operations, maintenance, and other engineering teams to align processing objectives with overall operational goals.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and operators on process technologies and best practices.
- Act as a liaison between the operational team and management, ensuring smooth communication on process improvements and challenges.
- Process Design and Upgrades:
- Lead or support the design and implementation of plant upgrades and capital projects.
- Participate in the commissioning of new equipment or processes.
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of new technologies to enhance processing capabilities.
- Environmental and Quality Assurance:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of environmental management plans related to coal processing and waste management.
- Ensure that coal products meet quality standards, working closely with the quality control team to test and verify product specifications.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in process engineering managing a 300tph magnetite DMS washplant.
- Demonstrated experience in process optimization and troubleshooting within a mining or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with process simulation software and data analytics tools.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of coal processing techniques such as gravity separation, flotation, and other beneficiation processes.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards within mining operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in process control systems, statistical analysis, and process improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
