Processing Manager Poultry

SUMMARY:
A large abattoir in Zambia has an opportunity for a skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join the team at their poultry processing plant. A strong background in engineering with a focus on refrigeration systems, along with comprehensive knowledge of poultry processing operations, is required. The role involves leading engineering initiatives, managing projects, optimizing processes, and overseeing preventative maintenance programs to ensure the efficiency, safety, and quality of our operations.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree Mechanical Engineering is essential.
• Refrigeration Systems Management: Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of refrigeration systems within the plant, optimizing efficiency and reliability, ammonia plant experience essential.
• Project Management: Lead engineering projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that engineering systems and processes meet or exceed food safety and product quality standards.
• Preventative Maintenance Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all critical equipment and systems, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Respond promptly to equipment failures and maintenance issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
• Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Stay informed about relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing poultry processing operations, ensuring full compliance at all times.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering roles within the poultry processing industry, with a focus on refrigeration systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, including HVAC systems, cold storage, and freezing technologies.
• Proven track record of successful project management, with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards such as, HACCP, and OSHA.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
