POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a skilled Technician to join a Produce Wholesaler. The position is based in Midrand. They are a leading packer and distributor of nuts, dried fruit, seeds, and snacks, operating a range of packing machinery, including form-fill-and-seal machines, doy pouch packing machines, and hand packing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Maintenance: Ensure machines are well-maintained and operational for maximum availability.
Changeovers: Minimize downtime and packaging waste during product changeovers by assisting operators.
Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair machines during breakdowns, with supplier support for complex issues.
Programming: Program machines for new products and optimize performance.
Productivity and Efficiency: Drive continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency.
Wastage Management: Identify and implement solutions to minimize wastage.
Production Oversight: Manage production in the absence of the Production Manager.

Requirements:

Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Experience with form-fill-and-seal machines is advantageous.
Prior experience in a food safety environment is beneficial.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure.
Willingness to work occasional weekends during peak seasons (October to December).
