Purpose:
The Projects Department manage all Capital and most Operating Cost projects executed. At any one time approximately 45 projects are in progress at different stages of development, both on surface and underground. The value of these projects varies between R 100 million and R 250 million per year. The need for a Projects Planner exists to implement and update systems and schedules on all projects to ensure they are completed on budget and on time
Minimum Requirements:
- N.Diploma, BTech, National Certificate , N6 in Engineering studies
- 5 years planning and scheduling experience in mining or heavy industrial project environment.
- 6 years Primavera experience
- Computer skills: Advance MS Projects, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
- Driver’s license
Key responsibilities will include:
Project Planning, Reporting and Administration
- Oversee and plan capital project requirements through all project phases.
- Monitor capital project plans and compile project progress reports.
- Oversee efficient conceptual design, project scheduling and monitoring of phases toward driving project implementation.
- Determine project feasibility, monitor progress, and update relevant plans and schedules accordingly.
- Monitor all notifications, purchase orders, deliverables, critical spares, and equipment toward ensuring effective workflow during project implementation.
Liaising with stakeholders and monitoring staff activities
- Determine internal resource levels and external contractors required for effective project execution, design and commissioning.
- Liaise with Project managers, Designers, and contractors to accelerate progress and ensure workflow is aligned with RBM requirements.
- Co-ordinate contracting companies performing multi-disciplined project tasks.
- Oversee construction and commissioning planning by consolidating contractor plans with project plan input.
Cost and budget control
- Monitor costs, progress payments, services rendered and timeframes of proposed changes, and ensure necessary adjustments are made on project schedules.
- Compile Project Change Authorization and Change Contract Variation Instruction documentation in liaison with the QS and Project manager.
- Administrate the financial closing process and issue final completion certificates to Contractors.
- Compile financial forecast timeframes of project phase completion to ensure weekly and monthly reporting, which consist of financial forecast dates of project phase completion.
SHEQ and process efficiency
- Maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
- Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Manager.
