SUMMARY: Help people understand and manage their mental, emotional, and behavioral problems by assisting them in identifying their strengths and available resource to help them.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Tasks/Activities
Assess mental, emotional, and behavioural problems
Administer psychological and neuropsychological assessments
Conduct clinical interviews
Score and interpret assessment results
Compile medico-legal reports
Identify and diagnose serious psychological problems caused by accidents/incidents and provide referral services to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities
Promote Mental Wellness
Help patients better understand and cope with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
Provide crisis intervention as needed in the following areas:
Financial stress
Trauma (Death etc)
Domestic Violence
Suicide
Perform administrative duties
Improve areas identified by the QA team
Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Coordinate and communicate with case managers and other stakeholders about treatment and care
Other requirements
Work within professional code as regulated by the HPCSA
Working with patients who suffer from mental and behaviour disorders
Essential Qualifications
Masters in Psychology
Registered with HPCSA
Essential Experience
Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
