Job duties & responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the QA/QC plan for the project, including quality standards, procedures, and inspection protocols.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that quality requirements are integrated into the project plan.
- Identify quality-related risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Oversee the execution of quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and monitoring of construction and commissioning processes.
- Ensure that all materials, equipment, and workmanship comply with project specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and quality control records.
- Track and report on quality performance, including non-conformances, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Ensure that all QA/QC documentation is accurate, complete, and readily accessible for review.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues and non-conformances that arise during the project.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality concerns and improve processes.
- Conduct post-project reviews to assess quality performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure that all QA/QC activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of quality and safety on site by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct safety and quality training for project staff to enhance awareness and adherence to quality standards.
- Lead and manage the QA/QC team, including inspectors, technicians, and quality personnel.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, addressing any issues or challenges that arise.
- Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on quality matters.
- Evaluate and approve suppliers and contractors based on their ability to meet quality standards and requirements.
- Monitor and assess the quality of work performed by subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related queries and coordination with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on quality performance, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Education and Work experience:
- National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in Quality Assurance/Control (e.g., CQI, CQE) are advantageous.
- At least 10 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
