Our client who specializes in professional vehicle repairs and body works, is looking for a qualified Spray Painter to join their team in George, Western Cape.

Job Requirements
As a spray painter, you will be responsible for checking on filling, smoothing, and repairing each panel’s surface done by your preparation team.
You are required to mix the coating liquids and spray each layer according to the specifications - which you are to have an excellent understanding of.
You may also be at times required to paint decorative designs using stencils and coat hard-to-reach areas using a hand brush.
To ensure your success, you should have excellent hand-eye coordination, excellent knowledge of paint-mixing techniques, and strong attention to detail. You must be able to produce even, hard-wearing coatings that exactly match the colours and finishes requested.
Spray Painter Responsibilities:
- Check on systems & job cards to pre-prepare your paint colour choices.
- Meeting with managers to discuss design and colour choices.
- Provide stock lists / manage paint stock quantities.
- Removing rust and other loose materials using acid or a wire brush.
- Quality control checking the filling, sanding, and smoothing of surfaces & preparation work that needs to be sprayed before painting.
- Applying masking tape and coverings over areas that are not being sprayed.
- Selecting and mixing the required coating liquids.
- Selecting and attaching the correct spray nozzle to create the desired spray pattern.
- Spraying vehicles, panels, and rims (at times) using industry techniques.
- Spraying designs using stencils, when required.
- Cleaning spray cans, nozzles, and other spraying equipment after each spray job.
- Clean guns using coagulating powder methods as required.
- Inspecting and assessing spray coatings after the paint has dried.
- Keeping your spray booth & mixing area clean and tidy at all times.
- Fixing any runs or excessive paint defects post-paint.
- Training apprentices while completing the tasks required of you.
Requirements:
- Spray painters Qualification Essential. Must have proof of a valid trade test qualification.
- Experience working as a qualified spray painter in a panel shop.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of paint mixing and spraying techniques.
- Ability to see subtle colour differences.
- Experience in breathing masks and protective clothing.
- Ability to work with acid and harsh chemicals.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Someone who doesn’t take time off work often, as this is your area of the workshop, we need a conscientious worker who takes pride in his/her work.
- Must be computer literate.
- Afrikaans & English speaking.
- Own Transport Essential.
- Driver’s license.
- Sober habits, attention to detail, and a clean worker.
Own spray gun is an advantage.
