Radiographer (Wits NCDRD)

Main purpose of the job:

• Obtaining DXA, ultrasound, and peapod scans according to the various standard operating procedures or protocols as well as performing any accompanying maintenance and administrative processes related to this function

Location:

• DPHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Collecting study data involving DXA, PEAPOD, and or sonography
• Assist with other data collection – for example, medical-related questionnaires
• Perform scan analysis, Archive Back-ups, and ensure Quality Control
• Conduct routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures, reporting any deficiencies or malfunction to the appropriate manager
• Generate study reports for Researchers
• Take responsibility for keeping the department in general and specifically the work area, clean, tidy, and safe
• Have a flexible approach to work so that urgent cases can be facilitated as necessary
• Ensure effective and economic use of resources and report all occurrences of defects that may affect health and safety

Required minimum education and training:

• National Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography (Ultrasound)
• A valid driver’s license is required

Required minimum work experience:

• Registered with the HPCSA as a Radiographer
• At least 2 years of working experience as a Radiographer

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Advanced computer literacy
• Report writing and Attention to detail
• Willingness to work extended hours
• Willingness to travel
