Receiving Manager

SUMMARY:
A Leading client in the Logistics industry is seeking an experienced Receiving Manager to join their dynamic team.

POSITION INFO:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

• Grade 12/Matric certificate
• Preferable to have tertiary education / qualification within the Supply Chain and Logistics industry.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within an import / export warehousing facility (With a minimum of 3 years therein being responsible for a Receiving operation involving container unpacks).
• 3-5 Years Managerial Experience required.
• SA Drivers licence and own vehicle for transport to and from work, this item is non-negotiable and must be a maintained situation.
• Advanced knowledge for Excel and spreadsheets.
• Experience with handling and receipt of different commodities
• Understanding of unpack cautions and requirements around HAZ commodities .
• SHE/OHS site monitoring for Receiving Operations.
• Available to work weekends and extra hours as and when operations require this (weekend work is a regular occurrence).
• High level of Industrial relations knowledge required and must have the ability to discipline staff.
• Knowledge of warehouse and freight management systems is required.
• High level of attention to detail is required.
• Must be a presentable/neat person and of sober habits.

• An in-depth knowledge of a Warehouse Management systems.
• Managerial skills are key. Must be able to manage a large compliment of Operations staff.
• Full understanding of Port detentions and shipping lines demurrage free days.
• Full understanding of Import operations based on shipping line empty turn-in criteria.
• Must be self-driven and be able to work un-supervised.
• Must be able to prioritise Imports receiving and container unpacks.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Understanding of unpack pack key’s for palletising requirements.
• Shift structures understanding in various capacities.
• Understanding of all MHE types and accessories utilised within the receiving operations.
• Full maintenance responsibility for the Receiving and Despatch MHE portfolio.
• Maintaining of all or any operational reporting schedules. Must be able to compile operations productivity reports.
• Must be a 100% Team Player and motivate the Ops teams to perform.
• Full knowledge of disciplinary processes and procedures and must lead by example.
• Advanced understanding of consumables involved within a receiving operation.
• Understanding of various unpack operations and varied commodity requirements.
• HAZ / SHEQ / OHS knowledge for unpack operations .
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Eloquent in all aspects of communication. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in the English language, with sub-ordinates and senior management.

• Managing the full day to day function of the Receiving/Imports operation.
• Managing all the staff involved in the operations (30 to 60 subordinates, excluding the daily casual labour compliment).
• Management of sub-ordinates and enforce the company disciplinary code. Handle all disciplinary aspects on staff within the operation.
• Handling the shift structure set out including the weekly updates and adjustments.
• Draft and implement new SOP’s when a gap in Receiving or Operations is identified.
• Monitor and manage overtime work within the budgetary allowance.
• Maintaining all overtime schedules and spreadsheets for the entire operation across all departments.
• Implement and maintain cost saving initiatives to drive profitability of the company.
• Reporting on additional operations items undertaking and ensuring communication is clear for recovery of charges on each aspect.
• Monitoring additional schedules per customer for certain handling, wrapping, and re-working aspects.
• Handling the outsourced staffing portfolios for operational staff requirements.
• Booking the required unpack Teams daily for the operation.
• Issuing of the Monthly and Daily PO’s to the labour service providers based on utilisation and verification of hours.
• Booking and monitoring of servicing and repairs within the MHE fleet.
• Issuing of respective PO’s for the servicing and maintenance of MHE to service providers and monitoring additional hours beyond service contracts.
• Reporting on overall operational capacities and volumes daily
• Motivating the team to perform and constantly pushing operations to achieve desired volumes and targets.
• Monitoring staff performances and focus on upskilling.
• Ordering and maintaining stock levels of consumables for the facilities operations and ensuring orders placed timeously for delivery (Work with the consumables assistant).
• Full and constant monitoring and responsibility of adherence to HAZ/SHEQ/OHS requirements on site.
• Conducting toolbox talks with staff on a constant basis for various subjects and concerns that arise.
• Completing OHS/SHEQ checklists required for the operations for the site.
• Maintaining excellent records for all aspects of the operation.
• General additional assistance to the Operations Manager as necessary and as requirements arise.
