POSITION INFO:
They are seeking a skilled Reinsurance Accounting Specialist on a 6-month fixed contract. You will be responsible for the accurate management of the reinsurance accounting function, from system setup to capturing and reporting. This role provides vital business partner insights to the leadership team, contributing to better risk decisions and streamlined processes. You will assist in all aspects of reinsurance technical accounting, maintain general ledgers, perform reconciliations, and support the reinsurance team with various tasks, ensuring the effective operation of the reinsurance accounting function.

Duties:
 

• Manage reinsurance technical accounting and general ledger maintenance
• Conduct analysis of results and balances, including NonProp claims technical accounting and reporting
• Prepare monthly reinsurance reports and quarterly technical account submissions to brokers and reinsurers
• Reconcile reinsurance accounts and assist with treaty statistics preparation
• Support the testing and implementation of reports on new reinsurance systems and streamline processes
• Collaborate with functional business heads, finance, reinsurance underwriting, reinsurers, and brokers

• Matric (Grade 12)
• BCom Accounting

• 5 years’ experience in finance roles within the insurance industry, preferably in reinsurance3
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; SAP knowledge is an advantage

• Strong analytical skills and financial management expertise
• Effective collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Detail-oriented, accurate, and well-organized
