SUMMARY:
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to drilling and installing roof bolts, drilling and charging up shot holes, assisting with the construction of temporary supports, assisting with face preparation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Description of main duties

Selects the right size ‘bit’ for drilling
Prepares drilling equipment
Makes sure areas is safe to drill in
Drills holes for blasting
Regulates speed and pressure
Monitors drilling operations
Follows strict safety regulations
Maintains and cleans machinery
Maintains service records

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Grade 10
Competent B certificate of competency.
Drill Rig certificate of competency.
Relevant working experience as a Drill Rig Operator would be advantageous.
Underground medical certificate of fitness.
Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, policies and records.

Experience

2 to 4+ years’ experience in underground trackless mining.

Additional Information

Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and specifications
Medical fitness test will be required
