SAIPA/SAIBA Accountant (Remote /Contract) - 80-100 hours per month

Reporting to the CEO and serving as a member of the management team, this position''''s primary responsibility is to provide guidance and leadership to the accounts team, to ensure high quality accounting; financial management and payroll services for xx and our portfolio of entrepreneurs.
General Duties
- Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
- Prepare and sign off Management Accounts internal and for the portfolio of customers.
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts, and prepare related journal entries.
- Prepare annual Budget and Cash Flow Projections.
- Regular reporting of variance between budget and actual.
- Schedule and execute a program of monthly financial reviews with all incubates.
- Mentor and train incubate on accounting, financial and governance processes.
- Prepare and lodge all tax; vat and other returns for the incubator and incubates.
- Schedule audits and work with external auditors providing necessary information as required.
- Ensure that all financial data and processes support the achievement of unqualified audits.
- Maintain and improve asset management systems and controls.
- Implement sound procurement systems that support a strong governance framework aligned to the PFMA and MFMA requirements.
- Formulate and enforce policies and procedures for all financial and fiduciary processes.
- Review and strengthen financial and accounting internal controls to ensure protection of the company’s financial resources.
- Train and mentor junior staff.
- Oversee data entry, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting/payroll departments.
- Oversee the accounting/payroll function for all incubates / customers.
- Oversee general ledger management, account reconciliation, cash receipts processing, depreciation and accruals.

Employee and Job Ergonomics requirements
- Relevant Degree/Diploma in Accounting with audit and tax subjects.
- Active registration as a professional accountant or accountant in business (SAIPA or SAIBA)
- Commissioner of Oaths.
- Understanding of the SMME and non-profit company environment;
- Excellent command of English;
- Clean un-endorsed driver’s license as it may from time to time be necessary for the incumbent to drive to a virtual incubate or attend events.
Knowledge and Key Skills
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Solid knowledge of General Ledger to Trial Balance including month end journals.
- Knowledge of Budget Planning, Financial Management and Accounting Principles and Practices;
- Strong Sage Business Cloud Accounting, Sage payroll, Google Workspace and Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Business and data analysis, using analytic tools such as spreadsheets, pivot tables etc.
- Knowledge of Business and Management Principles and practices;
- Knowledge of operating and capital budget concepts;
- Understanding of the Renewable Energy & Cleantech sector
Previous Experience
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years post graduate experience in financial accounting & management.
- Sector-specific Industry relevant experience would be an advantage;
- Experience in smme support and management;
