SITE MANAGER (Scaffolding/Insulation)

Contract minimum 3 years
R43 000 ctc (company contributions – Medical Aid/Pension etc. + company vehicle) or R250 per hour
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Site Manager reports to the Contracts Manager and has the responsibility for ensuring that all Contracts, Projects and Site operations allocated to him are carried out in an Efficient, Safe and Profitable manner and that all Company Policies and Procedures, Clients Specifications and Regulations and Legal and Statutory Requirements are adhered to.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
The position requires relevant 5+ years’ experience in a Site Manager position in a Contracting and/or Project Management environment preferable in the AIP, mechanical, structural field on large capital projects and/or substantial long –term maintenance operations with a demonstrable success story with recovery on a unit rate and claim basis.
Petrochem site work non negotiable
This should include experience in the operational and commercial aspects of the business together with relevant customer relations exposure.
Demonstrate high levels of technical, commercial and project management acumen. Where demonstrable experience in the following fields is mandatory:
QS environment of IPA ,IPC, Claims, notice provisions, commercial change management, site costing, site ledgers, SAP, ARIBA
Internal reporting environment, responsible for project P&L accounts, EFV, EFC, resource costing, F/C to planned lookahead.
Planning environment responsible for decisions on resource loading, resource levelling to a planned scope and management changes to the scope of work
Operations environment of logistics, safety, quality
Continuous improvement environment, LEAN work methodology, norms tracking, productivity reporting.
A relevant tertiary qualification in an engineering together with a commercial construction contract training would be an advantage.
The Site Manager is required to have a SACPCMP registration, commercial training in various forms of construction contracts, and have relevant scaffolding training.
The position requires the individual to have a higher-than-average level of computer skills with the emphasis being on SAP, ARIBA, MS Projects, MS Word, Excel, and Power Point. Power Bi and Digital Project Management tools experience will be an advantage.
LEAN experience and training will be an advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position cover the full Site Management function of the allocated site in the geographic region. In this role the Site Manager will be assisted by the various Site Supervision, QS, Admin and Erection Personnel. He will therefore be ultimately responsible for the specific responsibilities of the Site Managers and Erection Personnel as listed below.
In addition to these specific responsibilities the Site Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Companies assets and resources are used in an optimum manner in carrying out the Contracting function and that where insufficient assets or resources that any such shortfalls are identified, quantified, and sourced in a timely manner.
Other tasks or duties may be assigned from time to time that are within the capabilities of the job incumbent.
Planning, monitoring of contracts in hand, in order to ensure that work is executed within the budgets allowed and in accordance with the contractual programme;
Implement and support the LEAN development program with the assistance of the Local Lean Leader
Ensure that Industrial Relations are maintained and that grievances not resolved at site level are handled in accordance with the company policy and where required, chair disciplinary hearings
Ensure all site work complies with QCP’s specifications, drawings, codes, client instructions etc and maintain suitable records thereof;
Ensure no additional work is carried out without the appropriate written authority from the client;
Ensure adequate tools, equipment and material are available on site to support the work and that proper controls are maintains on the toll, equipment and material;
Ensure correct number, type and quality of personnel are available on site and to control and monitor the allocation of man-hours expended and costs incurred;
Set-up, maintain and monitor the implementation of the Management Control System, as required;
Ensure that the contractual requirements of individual contracts / projects are met and the company’s contractual and commercial positions are protected;
Ensure that daily commercial change control is regulated and additional works and or standing and delays are captured in accordance with the requirements of the contract and paid monthly in the payment certificate.
Maintain a safe site to standards required by HSEQ procedures. Ensure that correct appointments are in place, together with the appropriate training and risk assessment mitigation is implemented. Conduct weekly site inspections and follow the company VFL procedure. Maintain the standards set by the companies ISO requirements.
Maintain an accurate scaffold and asset inventory register.
