SUMMARY:
Our client in the FMCG sector is looking for a Semi-skilled Fitter to join their team in Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth
POSITION INFO:
Requirements: Experience / Qualifications:
- Grade 12
- N2 Mechanical qualification
- 8-10 years of experience in the mechanical field
- Experience working as a Semi-Skilled Fitter
- Valid Driver’s License (advantageous)
- Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and universal best practices
- Understanding of bearings and lubricants
- Experience with light to medium machinery
- Basic welding and fabrication skills, along with maintenance planning
- Familiarity with legislative and industry protocols and regulations related to maintenance
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
Output & Accountabilities:- Maintain accurate records and complete job cards using the Prisma Maintenance system.
- Conduct equipment checks as per manufacturer requirements.
- Take initiative on all projects and complete them within the expected timeframe.
- Create schedules, assign tasks, and provide training to employees.
- Motivate team members to enhance productivity and meet work goals.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Supervise junior team members.
- Oversee installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and services of mechanical systems as required.
- Report any incidents to the maintenance manager.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and address breakdowns promptly.
- Manage inventory, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates, and document all transactions.
- Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems as needed.
- Collaborate with the maintenance manager and contractors to resolve any arising issues.
- Follow up on corrective actions and implement measures to minimize recurrence of faults.
- Maintain effective health and safety systems, including risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks as appropriate.
- Ensure that all staff and subcontractors meet response and rectification times, completing repairs diligently and promptly.
- Take all necessary steps to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
