POSITION INFO:

Job Description:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they align with regulatory requirements and client expectations
Perform detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and present key findings to senior leadership and clients
Assist in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts for clients, ensuring financial targets and strategic goals are met
Prepare corporate, individual, and partnership tax returns, ensuring compliance with all tax laws and regulations
Advise clients on tax planning strategies to optimize their financial position and minimize liabilities
Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, advising clients accordingly to maintain compliance
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional customer service and acting as the main point of contact for financial and accounting matters
Conduct regular client meetings to understand their needs, offer guidance, and ensure satisfaction with services provided
Provide clear and effective communication, helping clients understand complex financial concepts and how they affect their business
Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company and client assets
Ensure adherence to accounting standards, laws, and industry regulations
Perform internal audits to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary corrective actions
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior accounting staff, ensuring that tasks are completed accurately and on time
Review the work of junior accountants and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality deliverables
Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and high performance
Provide strategic financial advice to clients, including cash flow management, investment strategies, and risk management
Assist clients with financial decision-making, mergers, acquisitions, and business restructuring
Conduct business valuations and financial projections for clients as needed
Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
Work closely with external auditors to ensure smooth and timely audit processes
 
Skills & Experience:
Strong proficiency in IFRS and South African tax laws, including tax planning, compliance, and SARS e-filing for individual, corporate, and VAT returns
1-2 years of post-article experience in an accounting firm, with hands-on expertise in financial management, VAT returns, and preparing financial statements in Excel
Proficient in accounting software (Sage, Pastel, Xero) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for financial data analysis and reporting
Experienced in working with diverse clients, delivering tailored accounting services, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
Excellent ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for clients
