Senior Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing and reporting on the company''s financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing insights into financial performance. Preparation of financial statements, managing budgets, conducting audits and supporting strategic financial planning.

POSITION INFO:

Great opportunity for a Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant to join this very dynamic organisation in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Large organisation seeking to add to their finance team a skilled Bookkeeper to assist with managing and reporting on the company''s financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulary requirements.

Qualification:

• BA Degree or DIPLOMA in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) nice to have.

Experience:

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance roles
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting and financial analysis.

Skills:

• Strong accounting principles and standards
• Proficiency in financial software
• Advanced Microsoft EXCEL skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Duties:

Financial Reporting

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
• Ensure compliance with Financial Reporting Standards and or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
• Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis
• Collaborate with department heads to develop and maintain budgetary controls

Audit and Compliance:

• Coordinate and support internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other financial legislation
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit readiness

Cost Management:

• Track and analyze costs related to bus operations, maintenance and administration
• Identify opportunies to cost reduction and efficiency improvements
• Provide financial insights to support decision-making processes

Accounts Management:

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
• Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments and collections
• Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow

Financial Analysis:

• Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives
• Prepare financial models to evaluate investment opportunities and project financial outcomes
• Provide regular financial insights and reports to management
• Present financial results and insights to senior management and other stakeholders
• Liaise with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors and tax authorities

General Bookkeeping and auditing duties relevant to a Senior Bookkeeper role also part of your responsibilities.
