Nelson Mandela University has an exciting Senior Director opportunity available within its People and Operations branch. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take the lead in empowering people , supporting and advising the academy, professional and support staff portfolios on people management and institutional capability to deliver services effectively and efficiently to enable student access and success, and enhancement of the academic project.
The People and Operations branch, a critical section of a University proudly in service of society, has undergone an organisational redesign aimed at providing value-adding quality services within the shortest possible time, in response to prevailing challenges and the changing needs of the University, the higher education sector and country. The redesign underpins a strategy of harnessing resources and the power of technology, developing and empowering people without which their growth and performance, the growth and performance of the University is not possible, and contributing to successfully graduating students who will go on to change the world.

Reporting to the Executive Director: Human Resources, the Senior Director: People and Institutional Capability is primarily responsible for aligning all HR functions with the Human Resources Strategy and work to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of HR services. The incumbent is also responsible for institutional Organisational Development, HR Measurement, Talent Management and HR Risk Management.
Key performance areas:

Ensure alignment of the People and Institutional Capability organisational unit areas University Vision 2030 and overall HR strategy

Develop relevant strategies, policies, practice as part of the total HR infrastructure in support of the University people and talent management goals and monitoring and evaluation thereof

Provide strategic input and guidance in respect of integrated people and talent management

Develop targeted Organisational Development interventions for continuous improvement of individuals and organisational performance

Lead resources stewardship in the organisational unit.
