CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
The core purpose is to lecture in the B.EMC programme modules, to conduct research in EMC and to facilitate collaborative relationships with Government and the private sector.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Lecture and assess modules within the B.EMC programme
Build relationships with the various role-players in the field
Conduct, publish and promote research in Emergency Medical Care
Engage in Health Promotion community projects
Assist with the presentation of Short Learning Programmes and CPD activities
Assist with clinical practice shifts
CORE COMPETENCIES
1. Expert knowledge of the theory and practice of Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
2. Experience in facilitating learning and teaching at undergraduate level
3. Experience in blended and online learning and in academic programmes such as Moodle
3. Experience in research in terms of academic supervision
4. Experience in research and publications
5. Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills
6. Good management and administrative skills
7. Proven expertise in the field of Emergency Medical Care (EMC)
8. Experience in the Provincial Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be an advantage
9. Proven computer literacy in the MS Office Suite
POST REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:
Qualifications
Relevant Doctoral degree or Master’s degree in the field of Emergency Medical Care
Completion of any formal further education qualification in EMC is ad advantage
Registration
Registered with the HPCSA as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP)
Registration as an Assessor and/or Moderator will be an advantage
Experience
At least 3 years in teaching, training, education and/or lecturing in the field of EMC
3 – 7 years working in the field of Emergency Medical Care
