CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
• To coordinate the delivery of teaching and assessment of medical students on the clinical healthcare platform.
• To enhance the development of fit for purpose primary healthcare-oriented graduates.
• To function in close cooperation with the MBChB coordinator in rolling out the clinical component of MBChB program.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• To participate in the curriculum development of the MBChB Program.
• To establish and build relationships on the clinical healthcare platform for the clinical rotations.
• To coordinate clinical rotations on the clinical platform.
• To coordinate assessment for the clinical rotations.
• To teach, assess and provide timeous feedback to medical and health science students.
• To develop and utilize a variety of creative teaching methodologies, including blended and online approaches.
• To participate in clinical skills learning and teaching at clinical training sites and the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
• To support and contribute to interprofessional learning opportunities.
• To take an active role in research, including the supervision of undergraduate and post graduate Health Science students.

• Possession of sound clinical knowledge and skills as a Medical Professional.
• Experience in teaching Health Science students.
• Ability to keep abreast of the latest, innovative technological changes and trends in Clinical Medicine and Health Professions Education.
• Ability to work flexibly in cross-functional teams in the teaching and development of students in the Medical School and Faculty of Health Sciences.
• Ability to consult and provide advice, facilitate discussion and resolve any areas of conflict.
• Recognise and deal with cultural diversity, and establish trust, credibility and respect with the medical program team and medical students.
• Actively participate in and consult with the Community Advisory Board.
POST REQUIREMENTS
Education
MBChB degree.
Registered with the HPCSA as an Independent Practitioner.
A postgraduate qualification in Health Professions Education will be an advantage.
Experience and skills
A minimum of 5 year’s clinical work experience as an independent Medical Practitioner in a South African public health facility.
A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in teaching and learning.
Valid driver’s license.
