POSITION INFO:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
The timeous processing of all salary related instructions onto the payroll system, to ensure that staff are
remunerated correctly in accordance with relevant policies and legislative requirements.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
ï‚· Timeous verification and processing of salary instructions in accordance with relevant policies and
legislative requirements:
ï‚· To process Permanent appointments in line with University Policy and Conditions of Service.
ï‚· To process the termination of service for employees.
ï‚· To perform the retrospective correction of salaries (Rollbacks) ensuring the correct reporting on the ERP
system in line with policy and Conditions of Service
ï‚· To ensure the electronic short-term contract appointments are generated correctly onto the Payroll System
ï‚· To Generate monthly reports of the entire payroll and verify the accuracy of the data.
ï‚· Reconciliations of the relevant reports and payroll control accounts. In preparation for the timeous payment
to third parties, i.e. medical aid funds, pension/ provident funds etc.
ï‚· All queries need to be addressed in terms of the Payroll Department’s Service Level Agreement and
standards set.
ï‚· Proper Categorizing and storing of documents in line with current legislative requirements.
ï‚· Continuous review of and update of operational procedure documents
ï‚· Review and update of Payroll procedures.

ï‚· Management of information and saving and retrieval skills;
ï‚· Knowledge of ITS Financial system

REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must possess:
ï‚· National Diploma or Degree in Payroll or Financial Accounting and a minimum of 5 Years experience within
a Payroll environment, in which extensive technical knowledge and experience has been gained.
OR
ï‚· A Senior Certificate (Matric) and 10 years’ experience within a Payroll environment, in which extensive
technical knowledge and experience has been gained.
ï‚· Working knowledge on the ITS Payroll system will be advantageous.
