JOB DESCRIPTION:

Developer of high-tech instrumentation, electronics and mechanical systems seeks to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Software Engineer at their premises in Cape Town.

For the position you would be required to have:

B. Eng/ B.Sc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science ESSENTIAL
Around 7 years' experience in the full software development cycle in a scientific, engineering, industrial or instrumentation environment
Around 3 years' experience leading software projects
Software development technologies and Acceptance Test Procedures

A plus if you also bring:

Linux, NI Labview, Real-time OS, Python, Flask, JavaScript, MySQL
Software and control system design for robotic, mechatronic or imaging devices

Responsibilities would include you to:

Plan and manage software projects
Derive software requirements based on stakeholder inputs
Strategic planning and obsolescence management of software systems
Develop software quality control processes
Act as lead developer, software architect
Perform software design, development and support through all stages of the development life cycle
Perform software maintenance and upgrades on equipment
Provide software support to electrical and mechanical teams
Design and test software via Acceptance Test Procedures as part of subsystem commissioning
Perform fault finding and bug fixes
Software configuration control
