Senior QA Engineer required for a well-known, long-established company in Edinburgh city centre.
They are a respected organisation who create risk management and analytic SaaS products for complex industries. You'll be joining a project that is pretty much greenfield in terms of testing. There is one Test Analyst working on this project right now, but their focus and experience is very much on manual testing, and it has quickly been determined that there is a huge need for automation testing in this area.
You'll be owning the automation testing in this area as well as helping the current Tester to develop their automation testing skills (only if you are keen to do so!), and you'll have complete control over how to develop the strategy, the testing (including creating the automation test framework from scratch) and the tools! There are lots of other Testers in other projects, so you won't be alone, and you'll have other like-minded folk to collaborate with.
Most of the tools/tech will be up to you to decide, but across the company C# and SpecFlow is used for backend testing, so this is something you would ideally have experience with, or if not, strong experience with Java for automated testing.
You'll have most of the following skills/experience:
**Automation testing experience - creating a framework from scratch
**Web focused testing - API and UI
**C#, SpecFlow or Java for automation testing
**CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps
**SQL
**Understand both functional and non-functional requirements
**Agile Scrum
**API testing
**Confident managing projects as a solo Tester or Lead QA
**Performance testing would be a bonus
Right now the team are working fully remotely until at least the New Year but long-term they will be looking at a hybrid model of working. Because of this, and because you will be working closely with the existing manual focused Tester, you will ideally need to be fairly local to the Edinburgh area (I.e., able to commute in once or twice a week), but they can consider 100% remote working.
There is a salary on offer of up to £50,000 with room to be flexible around that, with a 10% bonus as well. Benefits include private healthcare, pension contribution from employer of up to 12%, emergency family care, stocks and am employee assistance programme to name a few.
