JOB DESCRIPTION:

To manage and lead team members in order to ensure maximum utilisation of production facility all equipment, raws and packs/materials and labour to produce quality products at the lowest possible cost

 

Requirements:

  • Service requirements are clearly communicated to internal and external clients to ensure standards are met
  • Service level agreements are in place and deviations are addressed
  • Service delivery expected from internal, external clients are clearly understood and service level agreements are delivered upon.
  • Communication between departments are promoted to ensure achievement of overall objective of the group and each business unit.
  • The daily production plan is communicated clearly and effectively to the process operators/ supervisors to allow effective preplanning (ensure preplanning meetings held)
  • Production log form previous shift is interpreted, concerns are communicated and highlighted to the team
  • Raw Material requirements are confirmed, raw materials obtained and any barriers are communicated to the relevant role players.
  • Equipment checks are performance before start up documentation completed (inclusive of quality/cleaning checks)
  • Labour resources are assessed to ensure availability of manpower
  • Plant Cleaning and CIP procedures and schedules are adhered to as per WI
  • Machines and equipment are clean correctly (according to work instructions) as per cleaning schedule
  • All Cleaning Schedules are maintained, and documentation completed and traceable and signed off
  • Deviations are addressed, procedures enforced to ensure consistent adherence to CIP process
  • Relevant checks are performed to ensure the standard of the CIP is maintained
  • Improvements are identified in cases of contamination and new work procedures are drafted, communicated and adhered too.

  • Knowledge and interpretation of advance process control,
  • Principles of microbiology, biochemistry, understanding of processing equipment,
  • Clean in Place (CIP) procedures,

  • GMP
  • Quality control and quality assurance,
  • Raw material functions,
  • Intermediate knowledge instrumentation,
  • System fault finding,
  • health and safety practices,
  • Food legislation.

Qualifications:

  • Matriculated
  • National Diploma: Food Technology/Production Certificate or Diploma
  • National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging Operation or
  • Technical Qualification
  • Team Leader/Management/Supervisory Training essential
  • Full competence within this role would typically be developed over a period of 5 years from a Matric level or 1 -2 years from a diploma level
  • Team leading/Management experience essential
