SUMMARY:
2-year contract
Our client is seeking a Shift Technician for the period of 2 years to work on their client's project in Kariega.
POSITION INFO:
This two-year contract outlines the responsibilities for a Shift Technician in Kariega to support their client’s project.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform basic repairs on equipment such as welding guns, servo-pneumatic valves, and other critical parts to maintain line performance.
- Technical Expertise: Provide support in PLC, electrical, and mechanical areas for maintenance.
- Robotic Fault Resolution: Address robotic issues, including program adjustments and troubleshooting communication faults.
- Fault Diagnosis & Optimization: Identify and correct faults in various equipment (e.g., welding, laser, bolting) to ensure quality and production standards.
- PLC & Network Issue Management: Analyze and resolve PLC errors, along with Interbus/Profinet network issues.
- Drive Programming & HMI Modification: Troubleshoot and program SEW drives, modify HMI software for quick fault identification.
- Stoppage Investigation & Documentation: Investigate recurring stoppages, document them in the KMS, conduct root cause analysis, and complete breakdown sheets for stoppages over 20 minutes.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure robot safety systems meet all required safety standards.
- Backup & Recovery: Maintain backups for robot and PLC programs.
- Weekend Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled PM tasks on weekends based on production requirements.
- Training & Shift Integration: Undergo a six-month training period on-site, with eventual integration into either a 4-shift or 3-shift system as per project needs.
This contract includes hands-on training provided by the client of the project, with detailed focus on ensuring equipment availability, production continuity, and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities for Shift Technician:
- Issue Reporting: Identify and report any technical or engineering concerns.
- Documentation Maintenance: Update work instructions, learning documents (KMS sheets), and procedures as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to initiatives focused on enhancing plant, machinery, and equipment efficiency.
- Stoppage Analysis: Analyze breakdowns, particularly with equipment causing frequent downtime.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed analysis sheets for management on breakdowns and technical concerns.
- Operational Support: Assist with operational tasks in the designated section.
- Shift Handover: Participate in timely shift handovers, ensuring a smooth transition for the incoming team.
- Knowledge Management: Log significant breakdowns in the KMS to prevent reoccurrence and reduce downtime.
Competency Requirements - National diploma in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering.
- Siemens PLC training.
- Kuka KRC4 & KRC2 training.
- Ability to read electrical (E-Plan) and mechanical drawings.
- VASS 5 qualification essential.
Certification Requirement: This role requires VASS 5 certification, to be completed at the Group (their client) assessment facility. Our client will provide training throughout November and coordinate assessments with the Group (their client) by the end of November.
Additional Training: Robot training modules will be covered in December to ensure the candidate is fully prepared to start at the beginning of January.
