SUMMARY:
Verulam - A dynamic clothing supplier is looking for a meticulous and dependable Shipping/Accounts Clerk to join their team.
The successful candidate will have solid knowledge of shipping procedures, basic accounting skills, and experience with foreign suppliers and creditors.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the booking of containers and liaise with shipping forwarders and agents.
- Coordinate with SARS customs to ensure all necessary documentation and compliance requirements are met.
- Reconcile foreign suppliers' accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with basic accounting functions, including managing creditors' accounts.
- Maintain and update records of transactions in line with company policies.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports related to shipping and accounts.
- Communicate with suppliers, shipping agents, and other relevant parties to resolve issues and ensure smooth processing of shipments and payments.
- Ensure that all accounting and shipping procedures comply with legal and company regulations.
Key Requirements:- A relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or logistics is preferred.
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics environment is advantageous.
- Proven experience in shipping and accounts-related roles.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of shipping procedures, including booking containers and dealing with forwarders and agents.
- Basic knowledge of accounting practices and the ability to reconcile accounts.
- Experience with foreign creditors and reconciling foreign supplier accounts.
- Knowledge of SARS customs procedures is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with multiple stakeholders effectively.
